Farm shop design

Layout

I’m beginning to look at how the interior of the shop and cafe will work.  Here is a draft layout.  What do you think?  A few details are missing eg hand wash basis and sinks in the serving area, but other than that I’m pretty excited about it!

Lots of space for none refridgerated stuff, but do I need more space for butchery and deli produce.  Oh and is the cafe too big?

Design

But what about the “feel”  of the place?  I’m trying to decide between:

  1. Industrial chic – to use the utilitarian nature of the building as a starting point.  Exposing the bricks, using steel and wood for fittings for example.
  2. Farm House kitchen – Make it a bit more home like, with fixtures and fittings that echo a domestic farm house aga  kitchen. Ours in fact.
  3. Girly tea room – unashamedly pretty, with home made bunting,  floral prints and period chic fittings.
Which do you think you like the best? Could I combine them?  I’d really value some feedback from prospective customers. Thanks very much.

I like 2 which suits what you are doing. Also the number of seats should be dictated by how many people you can cope with at any one time.

    Tim,
I think farmhouse kitchen would be best. Industrial chic would be ok for something in town, but people coming out to the country would not expect it. And girly tea room is ok for a girly tea room!
    Hope that helps.

Agree with option 2, on the basis that you have a fantastic farm house, and people will just be expecting that kind of feel, I suspect.

On that straw pole, clearly the farmhouse kitchen has it. Thanks very much for your help. Others have all said pretty much the same, so that is what I will do.
