Farm shop gets the go ahead.

Rookery Farm Stable
Our Farm Shop, before work starts. This is the stable block which we are converting. The picture is taken from the road where the entrance to car park will be. The shed leaning at a precarious angle is going, as is the grey wall. All the area in the foreground will be car park.
We have planning permission!

Great news. On Friday we received the planning permission we need to convert our stable block into a farm shop, café and training centre. Yippee! (Or should that be gulp!)

Opening when?

We are aiming to open some time in mid spring. As you can see from the picture there is masses of work to do and I am working with the various trades people to get the work scheduled in. Thank goodness for transferable project management skills, I say.

The grand plan:

In broad terms the plan goes like this:

Wk 1 and 2 Clear sight and finalise works schedule.
Wk 3and 4 Re-roof the building and ground works
Wk 5 Windows, doors, electrics + plumbing first fix
Wk 6 ceiling and walls
Wk 7 fit floor
Wk 8 Second fix electrics. Fit kitchen and toilet.
Wk 9 Tiling and decorating. Shop fit out. Dress café.
Wk 10 finish car park and landscaping
Wk 11 Stock shop. External signage
Wk 12 Open for business
Wk 13 Finish pointing and external decorating
Wk14 snagging

Now I am passionate about all things local foody, especially building my farm shop. But I am not really passionate about building projects per se and I have very little experience of them. Does the above schedule seem reasonable? Have I missed anything? Is the timetable just too heroic?

Beer and wine is definitely on the cards, though I have yet to be licensed and of course, it will have to local!
